Chris Hughton Appointed as New Brighton Manager

West Brom are hoping to appoint Tony Pulis as their new head coach by the weekend.

The former Stoke and Crystal Palace mananger will assume total control of transfers, while still working with the Baggies' technical director, Terry Burton and sporting director Richard Garlick.

Pulis will succeed Alan Irvine and should be in the stands for his new club's trip to West Ham tomorrow.

Liverpool expect to have striker Daniel Sturridge back playing in "mid to late January".

The England forward hasn't played for his club side since August with calf and thigh injuries and has spent part of this month rehabilitating in the USA.

Meanwhile, Liverpool boss Brendan Rodgers has all but ruled out any big spending during the January transfer window.

Hull boss Steve Bruce has ruled out taking charge of Newcastle, assuming Alan Pardew completes his move to Crystal Palace.

Bruce was a Newcastle fan as a youngster but says he's committed to his current club, and has turned down three offers to leave during his time there.

Chris Hughton has been confirmed as the new manager of Championship strugglers, Brighton.

The former Republic of Ireland defender's mission is to save the Seagulls from the drop as goal difference alone separates them from the Championship's relegation zone.

Hughton has signed a 3-and-a-half year contract at the A-Mex.
