Hurling 2020 Committee unveil proposals

The Hurling 2020 Committee have proposed that players who pick up two yellow cards be subsituted rather than sent off, while one on penalties have also been suggested.

The penalty for a straight red card would remain unchanged, while just three players would line-up on the goal line for 20-metre frees in another mooted suggestion.

The committee under Chairman Liam Sheedy, which also includes double All Ireland winner with Clare Frank Lohan, have proposed a hurling referee sub committee at national level as well as squad numbers to be designated to each player for the Championship.

Also recommended is the abolishment of promotion / relegation play-offs in the league.

The proposals are expected to go before National Congress in February.
