Fixture Details Unveiled For Clare Championships

Provisional dates have been set for the start of the 2015 Clare Senior and Hurling Championships.

The master fixtures plan for Clare GAA in 2015 was discussed at last night’s January meeting, with May 30th pencilled in for the start of the 2015 Clare Senior Hurling Championship.

Depending on inter-county results, Round 2 could go ahead in June.

The County Football Championship is not scheduled to throw in until July 25th, with no date set for Round 2.

All football leagues will begin on March 21st, with hurling leagues underway on April 4th.

The U21 hurling championship is scheduled to start on February 28th, while the football will be in September at the earliest.

The possibility of midweek league games was also discussed as an option to reduce fixture congestion, with chairman Michael McDonagh expressing his disappointment that football clubs didn’t want to start the championship earlier.

Delegates will now go back to their clubs with the plans, with another meeting planned for next month.

It was also agreed that, where possible, the minor hurling and football finals will provide the curtain raiser on Senior County Final day while Peter Casey was officially ratified as part of Donal Moloney's Clare U21 hurling backroom team.
