Schmidt names 6 Nations Squad

Ireland head coach Joe Schmidt has left no stone unturned after naming a 46-man squad for this year's Six Nations Championship.

With Johnny Sexton likely to miss the opening two rounds of Ireland's title defence, Ian Madigan and Ian Keatley are the only recognised out-halfs selected as cover, which means that Munster's JJ Hanrahan has been over-looked.

Connacht prop Rodney Ah You also misses out after he came off the bench during two of Ireland's November Internationals, but there's two uncapped players selected – Leinster flanker Jack Conan and Connacht prop Nathan White.

Sexton, Sean O'Brien and Cian Healy have all been included, despite doubts over their fitness while there's welcome returns for Keith Earls and Luke Fitzgerald.

Among the other players selected are Leinster's Noel Reid, Michael Bent and Isaac Boss and Ulster hooker Rob Herring
