Newmarket and Clonlara gear up for Clare SHC showdown

A repeat of the 2008 final is on the cards in the Clare Senior Hurling Championship this weekend.

Newmarket will be hoping to avenge their defeat on that day when they renew rivalries with Clonlara in their quarter final clash.

The Blues came through tough battle with Tulla last time out, and selector Brian Enright feels that game will have stood to them.

Clonlara meanwhile got the better of O'Callaghans Mills for the fourth year in a row to book their spot in the last eight, having beaten Clarecastle in a replay in Round One.

They will be looking to a number of county stars to spearhead their challenge, with Darach Honan, Colm Galvin and John Conlon among those expected to feature.

Selector PJ Breen is hopeful they can keep their winning run going.

That one gets underway in Cusack Park on Saturday at 6pm
