Champions out of Clare SFC

County champions Cratloe are out of the Clare Senior Football Championship.

They were beaten by Clondegad in this afternoons quarter final clash, with Podge McMahons second half goal central to a 1-12 to 0-11 win.

The sides were level after the opening 30 minutes at 0-7 each, with both sides enjoying periods of dominance throughout.

However it was the Ballynacally based side that took control of the second half, and McMahon pounced for the all important green flag to put them in the driving seat.

It means Cratloe have now lost their senior hurling and football crowns in the space of a week.

St Breckan will take on Miltown in the other last four encounter.

It's after the North Clare men overcame Kilrush this afternoon, winning by 2-9 to 1-7.

The winners struck for a goal inside 20 seconds from Conor Cormican, and led at the break by 1-4 to 0-5.

The Shams responded with a goal of their own midway through the second half, and levelled the game at 1-7 each with 5 minutes to play.

Alan Sweeney then struck for the all important second goal, and they closed out to win by 5 points.

A hat trick of goals from Darragh Leahy helped Wolfe Tones secure their senior status for the coming year.

The 5-2 to 0-5 scoreline relegated Shannon Gaels to the intermediate ranks in the process.
