The Special G-One

Chelsea have sacked Jose Mourinho.

The Blues boss has paid the price for his side's miserable run of form this season, with Monday's defeat to Leicester City the final straw for owner Roman Abramovich.

The Portuguese coach was informed of the decision at a meeting with club officials at 2pm this afternoon after he had taken charge of training as normal this morning.

Mourinho only signed a new four-year-contract last summer after leading Chelsea to the league title in his second stint in charge at Stamford Bridge, but the club have managed just four wins and have lost nine league games so-far this season and are just a point above the drop zone.

In a statement, the club says that both sides believe that it is in their best interests to go their separate ways.

Dutch coach Guus Hiddink is now being lined-up to the club as a caretaker manager until the end of the season after performing a similar role after the departure of Luis Felipe Scolari in 2009.
