March Meeting Of Clare GAA Sees Draws For 2016 Intermediate Hurling Championship

The March meeting of Clare GAA saw the draws made for the 2016 Intermediate Hurling Championship.

It will be run on a group format for one year only after Ogonnelloe opted to drop a level leaving just 15 teams in the running.

After the clubs involved met a number of weeks ago, it was agreed to revert to a group system with a return to the 8 first round matches in 2017.

4 groups were drawn, with the top two in each coming through to the quarter finals.

Group 1 is made up of Broadford, Killenana, Inagh/Kilnamona and Cratloe.

In Group 2 will be Smith O'Briens, Parteen, Clarecastle and Corofin.

Group 3 is Tubber, St Josephs Doora Barefield, Newmarket on Fergus and Ruan, while there are just three teams in the final group, made up of Sixmilebridge, Clonlara and Scariff.

There will be no relegation from the intermediate ranks in 2016, with the promoted Junior A champions making up the 16th team for next years championship.
