McGregor: I am not retired

Conor McGregor has performed a major u-turn on his retirement announcement from earlier this week.

The M-M-A star now says that the cryptic tweet that he released on Tuesday was not a retirement announcement – but an attempt to help the promotion of UFC200.

McGregor has released a statement this afternoon to explain the reasons behind his stand-off with the UFC in the wake of his removal from the bill for the July 9th fight-night in Las Vegas.

He's been taken-off the bill for the fight after refusing to take part in the promotional activity in the build-up to his re-match against Nate Diaz and he has once-again insisted that he doesn't want to take part in the circuit of interviews, press conferences and advertising campaigns.

McGregor says that he still wants to take part in the fight – but wants to be allowed to isolate himself so that he can "prepare correctly" – adding tthat "it is time to be selfish with my training again. It is the only way."

UFC President Dana White must now decide if he is willing to allow McGregor to skip on his promotional duties in order to allow him to take part in the bout.
