Banner urged to continue upward curve after claiming Division Three League title at Croke Park

The man who kicked the winning point in Clare's Allianz National Football League victory has challenged his team mates to continue raising the bar.

The Banner came from 3 points down in injury time to beat Kildare by 2-17 to 1-19 in Croke Park and claim the Division 3 League title.

Dean Ryans late goal tied the game as the clock ticked into the red, with Miltown's Eoin Cleary cooly slotting a 75th minute free to seal the win.

Meanwhile, midfielder Cathal O'Connor says he hopes the win will serve as a motivation for further development of the game in the county.

It's the first time the Banner have claimed a National League title in what was just Clare's fourth appearance in Croke Park since 1992.

The Coolmeen man, who has struck up a formidable midfield partnership with captain Gary Brennan, says the focus will now turn toward the Munster championship opener against Limerick in just over a months time.
