Scientists are hoping to uncover the fate of Spanish sailors, who were shipwrecked off the Clare Coast in the time of Queen Elizabeth the 1st.
A team of archaeologists have begun a geophysical survey of a site at Spanish Point that is thought to contain burials related to two Spanish Armada ships, the San Marcos and San Esteban which washed ashore in 1588.

It's hoped the survey, which is part of the San Marcos Project, will uncover whether a mass burial did actually occur at
Spanish Point.
Director of the San Marcus Project John Treacy says the project is attracting a lot of attention internationally.
