Motorists are being advised to slow down and drive with care this morning following heavy rainfall overnight.
A mid-level orange rainfall alert was issued in Clare as well as Limerick, Tipperary, Cork, Kerry, Connaught and Donegal.

Further heavy and thundery rain is expected today and for a time tonight with accumulations of up to 50mm likely in some places, while on high ground coastal counties, amounts of up 70 mm are possible.
Gardaí are advising people of excess surface water on Clare's roads this morning and are asking people to drive with care.
