Clare County Council says it's unlikely that there will be any increase in funding for county roads over the coming year.
It follows calls by local councillors to re-instate the local improvements scheme to look after private and local roads, which was abandoned three years ago.

Senior Engineer Tom Tiernan told councillors at last night's monthly meeting that over the past seven years it has been necessary to leave many of the county's roads to deteriorate due to a 45 per cent decrease in funding.
