Shannon Airport is set to honour one of the key figures in its history.
The Airport has told Clare County Council that it's preparing a tribute to Dr. Brendan O'Regan, who would have turned 100 years old in 2017.

Dr. O'Regan established the world's first Duty Free shop at Shannon in 1957, and also drove the renovation of Bunratty Castle and the creation of the Shannon Free Zone.
The Airport has revealed its plans in a response to local representatives who want it to pay tribute to Dr. Tony Ryan, the founder of GPA and Ryanair.
The Airport says this proposal is very appropriate and that it will be considered.
