Clare's Labour TD is calling for changes to the legislation which will allow for same sex marriages to take place here.
Deputy Michael McNamara was one of a number of TDs who contributed to the debate in Leinster House yesterday, as the government moves to formalise the results of May's referendum.

He used his speech to call for civil partnershships to be maintained, allowing both straight and gay couples to commit to each other without entering into a marriage.
He says there are a number of couples who would like to do just this.
