Independent Broadcasters Urges Government To Replace TV Licence Fee

It says the Government needs to replace the existing television licence fee with a broadcasting charge and crack down on evasion, which sees annual losses of 30 billion euro.

An independent report commissioned by the IBI says a number of the 34 stations it represents are producing public service content, but nearly 90 percent of the funding from the TV licence fee goes to RTE and TG4.

Chairman of IBI, John Purcell, has this message for the Minister for Communications Alex White.
