Calls for Health Minister to intervene in hospital overcrowding crisis

The Chairman of the HSE's Regional Health Forum says a 42 per cent increase in trolley numbers at the region's main hospital cannot be repeated in the coming year.

Members of the forum will meet with representatives from UL Hospitals Group next week to discuss plans on tackling the ongoing issue of overcrowding at University Hospital Limerick.

It comes as Emergency Department Nurses from around the country gathered in Dublin today to decide on whether to ballot for industrial action over what they say is a deepening crisis.
