Dublin City Council To Ask NAMA To Cover Cost Of Longboat Quay Complex

Dublin City Council is expecting NAMA to help cover the cost of repairs at the Longboat Quay apartment complex, which was built by a Clare developer.

Last night Councilors passed an emergency motion to ensure that residents won't have to bare the financial burden of fire safety works worth around 4 million euro.

It had been built by Gendsong, a company owned by Lisdoonvarna developer and former County Councillor Bernard McNamara, which has now gone into receivership.

Officials have given the 900 tenants just a month to carry out the repairs or face possible eviction.

The Council has now offered them unanimous cross-party support and Sinn Féin Councillor Chris Andrews says the responsibility for the repairs lies elsewhere.
