Remembrance ceremony to be held at UHG

Those who've passed away over the last year will be remembered in a special ceremony at University Hospital Galway tomorrow afternoon.

A giant Christmas tree at the entrance to the hospital will be the focal point of the service organised by the Children's Remembrance Day Committee.

The lighting of the Christmas tree at the Galway hopsital is a poignant tribute to those who have passed away and to the families left behind.

Since mid-November members of the public have been invited to sponsor a light on the tree as a dedication to a deceased loved one.

The tree-lighting cemeony gets underway at half two, with the lights being switched on at half past four.

Funds raised from the sponsorship will be used to provide comfort for bereaved families.

Last year monies generated were used to refurbish the family room in St. Anthony's ward as well as the Garden of Remembrance at the Galway hospital.
