Members of Monaghan County Council say they want Hugh McElvaney to resign because the local authority has been brought into disrepute.
They say his appearance in last week's RTE Investigates programme shows he breached their code of conduct.

Mr McElvaney was filmed speaking to an undercover reporter asking for 10-thousand pounds in return for help with planning permission for a fake wind farm.
However he has since insisted he knew he was speaking to a journalist and went along with it 'for the craic'.
