The government is being urged to step up its investment levels in social housing in Clare.
Clare County Council has revealed that it refurbished and allocated 89 new homes this year, while families have also moved into ten homes that have been purchased by the local authority.

A further 80 homes are currently due to be refurbished or built next year, but the Council says it will need funding from the Department of the Environment to purchase more.
There are 3,000 people on the local authority's housing waiting list, and Spanish Point Fianna Fáil Councillor Michael Hillery says progress needs to be made in reducing that figure.
