Clare County Fire and Rescue Service received a number of call-outs for fallen trees, while the Carrigaholt to Kilkee road experienced flooding, leading to it becoming impassible.

Counties Cork, Kildare and Wicklow worst affected, where 1000 homes and businesses remain without power this morning.

A low-level yellow weather alert remains in Clare and the rest of Munster this morning with winds of up to 100 kilometres per hour forecast.

But Joan Blackburn from Met Eireann says the worst is over.
