An Bord Pleanála To Consider Trump’s Wall Application

The future of a 10 million euro sea wall at Donald Trump's Doonbeg Golf Resort is in the hands of an Bord Pleanála after an application for planning permission has been referred by Clare County Council.

Consultants acting on behalf Trump's Doonbeg Golf Resort have warned about consequences for the business if permission wasn't secured for their planned 200,000 tonne wall of rock armour.

The aim is to prevent the golf course from being washed away by Atlantic storms, but the project has been criticised by environmentalists who said it would harm dunes there.

The proposed wall is 2.8km in length, requiring the Council to refer the application to An Bord Pleanála who will determine whether it is strategic infrastructure.
