The Simon Commmunity says homelessness is just as big an issue in Clare as it is in large urban areas.
New figures show thirty-one children in this region are living in emergency accommodation, as their families are homeless, with over 4,000 families on the housing list in the county.

The statistics from the Department of the Environment also reveal that a total of 14 families were homeless in the Midwest at the end of January while, nationally, 884 families with 1,830 children are living in emergency accommodation.
Jackie Bonfield from Midwest Simon says a new government needs to be put in place as soon as possible and policies brought in to tackle what she is calling a "national emergency"
