Labour have confirmed that they won't be endorsing their former Clare TD in his bid for the Seanad.
Michael McNamara, who lost his Dáil seat last month, had already conceded that it was "almost certain" that he wouldn't be endorsed by the party for a place on the Agricultural Panel.
Now, Labour has confirmed that it has instead endorsed outgoing Senator Denis Landy.
While in Dáil Eireann, Michael McNamara was expelled from Labour's parliamentary party for a time after he voted against the sale of the state's Aer Lingus shares, but Chairman of Clare Labour Dermot Hayes has said he doesn't believe that this led to his missing out on the party's nomination.
