Two Irish injured in Turkish suicide bombing

Two Irish people have been injured in a suicide bomb attack in Turkey. 

Four people as well as the bomber were killed in the blast in an area popular with tourists.

Acting Foreign Affairs Minister Charlie Flanagan said he was deeply saddened by this morning's attack in central Istanbul. 

Four people were killed in the suicide bomb attack. 

Two Irish people are understood to be among the 36 people injured in the blast. 

7 people are said to be seriously injured. 

Minister Flanagan said that he is deeply sadddened by the attack. 

He confirmed that an embassy official is on the ground in Istanbul to provide consular assistance.

The Department of Foreign Affairs has updated its travel advice for Irish citizens, saying the threat of further terrorism remains very high. 

They're urging any Irish citizens in the area to follow the instructions of the police and local authorities.
