Clare's County Dog Warden says an average of one dog per day has been abandoned in the county this year.
Frankie Coote has revealed the figure, saying it represents an increase on previous years.

A further 40 dogs are being surrendered to the pound each month, and Frankie Coote says it's putting a huge strain on their resources.
He's calling on people to think twice before getting a dog in the first place.
