A kayaker has been rescued after getting into difficulty in the sea at Kilkee.
The alarm was raised by several members of the public after they spotted the man at the base of a cliff near West End, shortly before 5 o'clock yesterday evening.

The Kilkee unit of the Irish Coast Guard was alerted on arrival rescued the exhausted Kayaker from the rocks and recovered his equipment from the sea.
The man in his thirties was transferred to the Coast Guard base where he was cared for until ambulance paramedics arrived.
It’s understood he had been in the water for some time but he didn't require hospitalisation.
