A Lahinch-based GP remains cautiously optimistic that a package of measures aimed at supporting rural pratise will be signed off on over the coming weeks.
The package, which was unveiled before the election, is due to come on-stream on May 1st, but has yet to be ratified by the Department of Public Expenditure and Reform.

The Irish Medical Organisation's annual conference is taking place in Sligo this week, with access to GP services in rural areas, one the main issues being discussed.
Dr Michael Kelleher says there's currently no reason to believe the measures won't be implemented.
