Neill O'Callaghan recently began working as the IDA's Regional Business and Relationship Manager in the Mid-West, and says he has already begun engagement with stakeholders including Clare County Council, Ennis and Shannon Chamber.

Defending the Authority's track record to date, he says Clare ranks in 6th place in terms of foreign direct investment despite having only the 14th highest population.

He's now looking to build on this, and says working with all stakeholders in this area will be important.

The IDA's wants to achieve growth of 40% over the next three years and he's confident that can be achieved.

Neill O'Callaghan has also defended the IDA's regional strategy, saying it gives Ireland more clout when competing against other areas internationally.

He's said that Ennis has been identified as a potential growth area, and the town's Chamber of Comerce has highlighted Ennis Information Age Park on the Gort Road as a suitable site for attracting industry.

CEO Rita Mc Inerney hopes moves will be made quickly to utilise this facility.
