Springfield Resident Angry With Lack Of Action On Flooding

A Springfield resident claims the failure of a group set up to co-ordinate Ireland's flood prevention strategy to meet for 6 years is further evidence that authorities are not taking the problem seriously.

A report by the Comptroller and Auditor General report found the Interdepartmental Co-Ordination Group didn't meet between 2009 and 2015.

Meanwhile a second group of experts, set up by the OPW to manage flood risk based on a study of river catchments, didn't meet in the four years up to November 2014.

Springfield resident Geraldine Quinlivan is among the dozens of residents whose homes have were left inaccessible or badly damaged by floods this winter.

She's says she's angered by the report, but not surprised.
