Significant Jump In Waiting Lists At UHL

The number of people wating for an outpatient appointment at the region's main hospital rose by almost 1500 in March.

Figures from the National Treatment Purchase Fund show there are now a total of 21395 awaiting appointments at University Hospital Limerick with over 8,600 on the list for 6 months or more.

There were also 32 more people due an appointment at Ennis Hospital at the end of March than there were at the end of February.

Barefield Councillor and member of the Regional Health Forum West, Ann Norton, has been telling me the length of the list at UHL is a symptom of a wider problem.

Clare FM News is awaiting a statement from the UL Hospitals Group on the matter.
