A Garda investigation is taking place following a high speed chase in West Clare in the early hours of Sunday morning.
At around 2.30am, officers manning a checkpoint in Knockliscrane, Miltown Malbay approached a vehicle after it appeared some of the occupants were not wearing seatbelts.

However, the vehicle then sped off and was pursued by Gardai who recovered it a short distance away.
No one was injured in the course of the chase and Gardai say they have identified a suspect in the incident.
No arrests have yet been made.
