Negotiations On Government Formation Near Completion

We're due to find out later this afternoon if a Dail vote on a new Taoiseach will be held tomorrow.

It comes as Clare's Independent TD says, barring any changes to proposed programme for government, he will back Enda Kenny.

Enda Kenny's told the Dáil that at this stage he doesn't know if there will be an agreement with Independents today that would allow a vote for him to be re-elected Taoiseach tomorrow.

If that vote is to take place it will have to be announced in the Dáil chamber before 4:30pm this afternoon.

Mr Kenny says negotiations are ongoing.

Following ten hours of talks yesterday, Clare Independent TD says all indications suggest there will be sufficient support to get the programme for government across the line.

Dr. Michael Harty says that unless further changes are needed within the programme for government, he will vote in favour of an Enda Kenny led minority Government.

Meanwhile, its been announced that the draft Programme for Government will be called "A Programme of Partnership for a Fairer Ireland".

During the election campaign the slogan 'A Fairer Ireland' was used by Fianna Fáil.
