Clare County Council is being called on to re-commence the construction of social housing in the county.
193 social housing units were built across the county in the past ten years and if the rate of development continues at the same pace, it would take over 170 years to clear the social housing list.

Barefield Councillor Ann Norton says this type of construction has essentially stopped and she's calling for the 26 million euro in funding allocated towards this to be spent wisely.
The Independent Councillor, who is a member of the Council's Housing Committee says a number of issues need to be considered.
