Brendan Howlin is the new leader of the Labour party.
The Wexford TD will take over from Joan Burton, who resigned from the position last week.

Outgoing deputy leader Alan Kelly last night failed to secure a seconder to allow him to contest the leadership.
Brendan Howlin has been a TD since 1987 and was Minister for Public Expenditure in the last government.
Speaking after his election in Dublin today, Mr. Howlin says it's a proud day for him.
