A Clare-based retired Detective Garda insists that measures must be put in place to protect members when false allegations are made against them.

The Independent policing authority last night said it had "deep unease" over the management of an Garda Siochana and Commissioner Noirin O'Sullivan has been asked to carry out a number of tasks, including a culture audit.
Michael believes the Policing Authority will make a difference in time but he wants to see a similar organisation dedicated towards protecting Gardaí.
