Motorist Clocked At 124km In Clare

A Garda crack-down on speeding has already resulted in one detection in this county, since it got underway at 7am.

Gardai say that a motorist was caught on the N18 at Cratloe doing 124 kilometres-per-hour in a 100 km zone

The force are cracking down on crime today as part of Operation Slow Down, an initiative carried out in conjunction with Clare County Council and the RSA.

The Clare Garda Traffic Corps is reminding people that a 1% reduction in speed will reduce fatal road crashes by 4%.

A number of high-visibility speed enforcement activities are being carried out today, while Garda personnel are manning display stands at key venues in the county to provide road safety advice.
