It's claimed the rise in Live Register figures in East Clare highlights the urgent need to attract major businesses to parts the county.
New figures from the CSO show 6,840 people were claiming some form of unemployment benefit in the county in May, a drop of only 35 on the previous month.

But East Clare saw a rise in the number of people signing on, despite traditional seasonal jobs coming on stream.
