An East Clare Councillor is confident that the installation of new water mains in the Parteen area will have long term benefits, despite causing disruption for residents while works are being carried out.
Councillor Cathal Crowe is commenting after several hundred homes in the Parteen, Ardnacrusha, Clonlara and Meelick areas were left without a water supply last week on account of a burst water mains.
He says a section of roadway had to be excavated to facilitate remedial works and after supply was restored, it took several hours for pressure to reach all homes across the network.
New water mains will soon be installed but Councillor Cathal Crowe says further work needs to be carried out
