Clare Households To Benefit From New Government Fund

Households in three areas in Clare are to benefit from a portion of a 20 million euro Government fund.

38 community energy projects across the country have been awarded grants through the Better Energy Communities Scheme which is operated by the Sustainable Energy Authority of Ireland.

The funding through the Better Energy Communities scheme, will provide energy efficiency upgrades to more than 2,600 homes and almost 300 community and commercial facilities across the country.

Northside Community Enterprises Insulation, which is partnering with the Respond Housing Association has been awarded a grant of over 560,000 euro towards three projects in Clare and another in Kerry.

The money will be spent on delivering deep retrofits to 87 residential units and 3 community buildings, at Beechgrove, Newmarket-on-Fergus, Cooper’s Place in Ennis,Reinnana View in Shannon and Convent Walk in Ballybunion. 

The measures include cavity wall insulation, air-to-water heat pumps, solid fuel stoves and window and door replacements in order to bring homes up to an average BER rating of B1.

The total investment in energy efficiency is almost 48 million euro, which the Government says will support more than 700 direct and indirect jobs right across the country.
