The level of overcrowding at the region's main hospital is on the rise once again this week.
Figures from the INMO show 31 people were waiting for beds at University Hospital Limerick this morning, 23 of those in the emergency department.
The Dooradoyle facility is the most overcrowded in the country again today, followed by Beaumont Hospital in Dublin, where only 22 people are waiting on trolleys.
Last week a similar situation arose for three days running, following which, UL Hospitals Group said it's following the System Wide Escalation Framework agreed by the National ED Taskforce.
Elective surgery is also being kept under review and the hospital says that when absolutely necessary, a small number of elected surgeries have been postponed, with the exception of cancer and trauma cases.
