Garda Adrian Donohoe Honoured In Templemore

The Garda Commissioner has appealed for the public's help in bringing those responsible for the death of Adrian Donohoe to justice.

The Detective Garda has been posthumously honoured at a special ceremoney in Templemore today, for his exceptional courage and bravery in protecting others.

His wife Caroline, a native of Kilkee accepted the gold Scott Award, the force's highest honour, on his behalf.

A number of Clare Gardaí have also been honoured today

Today, the memory of Detective Adrian Donohoe, who murdered in the line of duty, was at the core of the ceremony at Templemore Garda College.

He was shot dead while responding to a robbery at Lordship Credit Union in Louth in January 2013.

On his behalf, his wife Caroline, a native of Kilkee, and thier children Niall and Amy, accepted the gold "Scott Medal", the force's highest honour.

The ceremony was also attended by Adrian's parents and extended family, as well as his colleague Joe Ryan, who accompanied him on that fateful night.

The Garda Commissioner says that Adrian made the ultimate sacrifice and Noirín O'Sullivan has appealed to members of the public to help bring those responsible to justice:
