Construction is underway on a compressed natural gas re-fuelling station in Shannon, which is expected to result in massive savings for commercial transport.
The facility is located at Clean Ireland's Recycling Station, a company which aims to transition its vehicles to CNG fuel over the coming years.
It marks the beginning of Gas Network's Ireland's work on a major network of CNG filling stations across the country and will allow businesses to reduce harmful emissions and generate fuel cost savings of up to 35%.
The build in Shannon will be completed within 12 weeks and Commercialisation Manager Dan Fitzpatrick says it's a first step towards transitioning all commercial vehicles to what he calls the "fuel of the future"
