Harty Believes Recruitment Difficulties May Be Contributing To ED Delay

Clare's Independent TD suspects difficulty in recruiting staff may be contributing to the delay in opening the new emergency department at University Hospital Limerick.

The opening date for the facility has been pushed back to May 2017, despite reassurances previously that the ED would be up and running in the first quarter of next year.

UL Hospitals group says contractors are on track to hand over the project at the end of March, but it will take a number of weeks for the new department to be equipped for opening.

And while the process of finding the required staff has begun, Dr. Michael Harty believes it will be a struggle.
