It's being proposed that memorial be erected to honour those who lost their lives during the early days of aviation in Shannon.
Newmarket on Fergus Councillor Pat McMahon is suggesting that victims of air disasters be remembered with an appropriate monument at the Midwest Airport.

The local authority has stated its willing to work with Shannon Group on any such project.
Councillor McMahon says, while the Midwest airport has an excellent safety record in modern times, it's fitting that those who lost their lives in years past are remembered.
