Four People Rescued On Lough Derg

Four people have been rescued on Lough Derg after their vessel ran aground.

The Lough Derg RNLI lifeboat was dispatched around 1.30 yesterday afternoon after a crew on board a 34 foot cruiser got into difficulty near Scilly Islands.

The lifeboat located the vessel at the junction of Scariff Bay and Parker’s Point shortly before two o'clock and the four people on board were found to be unharmed and wearing their lifejackets.

Once the lifeboat was satisfied the vessel was not holed, it was taken off the rocks and into safe water.

Lough Derg RNLI is appealing to anyone taking to the waters to bring charts outlining areas close to the shore that are
un-navigatable, particularly in light of low water levels in the lake at the moment.
