A young woman is recovering in hospital after she was rescued from a river by a member of An Garda Síochána early today.
The incident happened at around 5.30am in the Wood Quay area of Ennis.

A passing garda patrol was alerted to a woman in the River Fergus and one member entered the river to save the woman while another called for assistance.
A second woman, believed to be the casualty’s friend, is also understood to have jumped into the water to help.
The woman was brought ashore and assessed by paramedics before being removed by ambulance to University Hospital Limerick for treatment.
The fire service had also been alerted but were stood down.
