Ennistymon is to host a Mental Health forum on Depression in Rural Ireland – An open and honest discussion about depression, anxiety and suicide that is taking place in the Falls Hotel, Ennistymon this evening at 7.30pm
 Speakers include: Dan Neville President of the association of Suicidology, Dr Billy O’Connell G.P. Local Doctor and community Activist, Dr. Moosajee Bhamjee, Clare Psychiatrist
On Thursday’s Morning Focus Ally Carr of Moy, Lahinch and organiser of tonight’s event in Ennistymon joined John in studio and Dr Billy O’Connell in Miltown Malbay joined them on the line to urge people to attend.

A new health challenge by the GAA ‘Off the Booze and On the Ball’ (launched on November 22nd) is encouraging members to give up alcohol for the month
The project is for the Month of January 2012 and is supported by the HSE, the Road Safety authority and the Gaelic Players Association
The Official Launch of “Off the Booze and On the Ball” takes place in the Temple Gate Hotel on Monday December 5th at 8pm
Colin Regan, ASAP Programme National Director (Alcohol and Substance Abuse Prevention) joined John on the line and Des Crowe, Clare County Board Assistant Secretary and Clare ASAP Representative on the National Committee and Michael O’Neill, Chairman of the Clare County Board joined John in studio.

Local Fianna Fáil TD Timmy Dooley is organising a public information evening on the controversial Government initiative of septic tank inspections
The Government is proposing that all 22,000 rural householders throughout Clare who have a septic tank will be required to have it registered and inspected regularly and replaced if not meeting the required standard. The cost of upgrading or replacing a septic tank together with carrying out work on a peculation area could vary between €5000 & €15000. and Deputy Dooley says ‘there is a lot of anger out there about the forthcoming septic tank inspections. which are " a further tax on rural living and creating a divide between urban and rural society."
The meeting will take place next Friday, December 2nd at 8pm in the Auburn Lodge Hotel, Ennis, Deputy Dooley urged rural swellers to attend.

Autism Expert Jean Muscroft has personal experience of the condition, she has worked with hundreds of families with autistic children supporting there general health and development through dietary and nutritional interventions  She works with a number of Irish families but your program could be a good opportunity to help educate the public
The program is science-based and each intervention has many scientific studies to back it up
Her speciality includes child developmental issues such as dyslexia dyspraxia and ADHD

Kilnaboy resident PJ Curtis is an author, musicologist and lecturer and has been involved in music and writing since the mid-seventies. He is the writer ‘The Road of Souls’ a new short film entitled being unveiled today in Corofin
Set in County Clare in the 1950’s, the film is a charming tale of childhood memories and the moments that we remember forever. The greatest triumph of the production is the fact that the cast is made up of locals from the Kilnaboy area and members of the Corofin Dramatic Society, all of whom are appearing on the big screen for the first time
It’s produced by Mixed Bag Media Ltd, an Offaly based company, with the assistance of a grant from Clare Arts Office
PJ joined John in studio along with Garrett Daly, Director of ‘The Road of Souls’ and Michael Keane, a cast member from Kilnaboy to talk about the film.
 
John Underhill of Burren Vets joined John in studio and answered listener’s queries regarding animals, pets and livestock.
