The Today Show – Wednesday February 29th

Libertas founder Declan Ganley caused a stir on today’s show with his comments on revolutionary.  While some brand Guevara as an icon and hero, Ganley has described him as a mass-murderer and a psychopath who could hurt Ireland’s reputation abroad.  It comes as Galway City Council continue with plans to erect a statue in Guevara’s honour, and as Kilkee continues to host a festival commemorating his visit there in 1961.

On Tuesday, Gavin spoke with Margaret Considine whose dog Rosie was stuck on a ledge near their home in Cross.  She asked for the help of experts to come to Rosie’s assistance, and today we heard that all had gone well.  Following her appeal on the program, Margaret spoke with members of the Doolin and Kilkee coastguards who went to her farm and rescued Rosie who is now safe and well, albeit quite sore after her experiences.

Dr. Máire Finn spoke about acne in our weekly health slot, while Ed Farnan of Irish Central updated us on the latest in the Republican primary race, and the contest to take on Barack Obama in November’s Presidential election.  We also heard some mixed views from the people of Kilrush on the traditional marraige proposal, and how the roles are reversed each leap year day.  Hope you enjoyed your February 29th!

Gavin also spoke with Brendán McGuinle about An Cumann Scoildrámaíochta which saw great success for Clare schools.  Brendán also encouraged us all to use ‘na cúpla focail’ in the coming weeks, as Seachtain na Gaeilge kicks off on Monday next.
